Actually you can easily find the artist if you know where to look (upload wallpaper to post/similar and check tags) or where to ask (lots of people that would know out there)

I guessed that much. I often find detexted versions too out on the internets, also unless the detext job is poor I also prefer the detexted version but I usually keep both them here (and use the detexted version for my dekstop of course).
But what will you say if the person doesn't know who the original artist is? "Original work by unknown person?"
I'm not really sure what you mean, but that's why we have tags.
(And yes, we--all image boards--have plenty of images by unknown artists; certainly baking the artist's name into every image wouldn't be a good solution to that.)
Plus the wallpaper creator is a friend of mine, what should I say? Oh noes... he forgot to add the "original" authors name. Oh ****, I think you should add the original creators name so some users won't get upset.
The original wallpaper had the artist's name added. This post has that removed, too. I just thought it was interesting that you complained about the photoshopper's name being removed, but not the actual artist's.
