I remmeber those now. Unfortunately, they fall under the subjective side of the approval process.
Approval process
Part of the approval process (as noted in the Upload FAQ) is subjective in nature. That is, whether an image is approve or not is subject to the whim, likes, and dislikes of any particular mod. Outright deletions have to fall under blatant viloations of tthe Uploads Guidelines in some form. As such, we don't outright delete posts usually so as many mods as possible has a hance to evaluate a post for approval.
Any mod may approve a post. Currently, there's about 6 mod- and 2 admin-level users/staff members on the site, so you have up to 8 chances for a post to be approved. 3 days is the limit we impose before a post is considered derelict and "deleted" (removed from activity on the site). Any post deleted after 3 days hasn't caught the interest or attention of a mod well enough for various reasons for it to be a approved. It may be a minor technical error (like say aliasing or light JPEG compression noise) or completely aesthetic (they just didn't like how it look).
Whenever I do a queue purge, I try to give the images I'm about to delete one last look over before I commit the deletion (I don't do regular image approvals; I usually keep an eye out for images to delete, clearing the queue of garbage posts.) If during my last once over a post is technically qualified, I'll judge it aesthetic merit. If nothing seems "off" about it and it looks decent, I'm willing to approve it.
DISCLAIMER:
I'm NOT speaking on behalf of all the mods and the admin.
Now, in relation to your mention posts, in my honestt and humble opinion, they're not very aestheticly pleasing. I can't speak for the others, but to me, Miku seems very "off" in her design and style compared to the samples o her we have on tthe site. As such, that is perhaps the reason your posts didn't get approved.
Next, if yor post(s) don't get approved, DO NOT attempt to re-upload them. Note the post ID number and contact a mod/admin via Dmail for appeal. Attempting to (repeatedly) upload images that have been deleted previously can be construed as image spanning and a ban possible.
Also, don't post about a question in the forums about lack of image approval. Those questions should be asked via Dmail. Forum-based questioning is only acceptable if you don't know who the mods are (there is a list. Besides, the one who deleted an image is noted in the deletion reason) or you haven't gotten a reply back from the mod you original contacted for whatever reason.
If anything, you DEFINITELY posted an off-topic message/question here.
