Baccano!

Baccano! is hands down my favorite anime for 2007. Simply put it is pure, untainted entertainment. The music is excellent, the animation is flawless, the characters are memorable and a joy to watch and the story despite being very confusing at first can be as addictive as everything else about the series if you just hang in there. I wasn't planning on doing this with any anime before finishing my list but I'm going to be watching Baccano! again very soon. Who knows? It might be even better the second time ^_^

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Who says school is boring? Everyone. Or at least I do. And for good reason. But anime has a knack for making normally dull or unappealing things interesing and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is no exception. It's not often you find a show that tries to make death funny. And Sayo... SZS (long title) does this and more. There are a lot of things to like about this show so I'll just talk about the cast a bit. Itoshiki Nozomu is the Zetsubou Sensei of the title and one of the most memorable teachers I've seen in anime. One thing I like about him is that despite his complaints or rather partly because of his complaints on well... everything, he remains an interesting and likable character throught the series. And then there's the female cast who make up nearly all of Nozomu's class. They are hands down the strangest group of students I've ever seen. And there are a lot of 'em too, if I were to go into detail about them this would end up looking more like an anime review than... whatever it is...

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone

I was pretty nervous about this one at first. As of yet I haven't seen many anime re-makes so I was worried this would just be a compilation with some new footage to make it seem worth watching. Actually I wasn't too far off, the movie is basically just the first few episodes of the TV series but with modern animation... I think. Actually I haven't seen the series in a while ^_^' well anyway I really liked the movie. Makes sense cause the only real problem I had with the TV version was all of the phychobabble which dosen't come until later in the story.

Ultimate Survivor Kaiji

Not that I'm surprised but I really liked this anime. Kaiji managed to fix pretty much every problem that it's predecessor Akagi had. The games are easy to follow, the MC is both likable and relatable and it is never boring. To be honest I can't think of any real flaws in this anime. Hmmm... well if long speeches, even longer noses and crying bothers you then... No. Forget what I just said, if you haven't seen it yet just watch it already.

Spice and Wolf

The music, art and especially the characters in this series can all be described as captivating. The leads Craft Lawrence and Holo are the only characters really worth mentioning because most of the other characters only appear briefly. But that's fine because both of the leads are memorable and enjoyable characters, Horo being my personal favorite of course ^_^

Code Geass R2

I have to say, I didn't expect to like this too much. I mean, with all of the complaints about R2 being inferior to the original how could I? But even though the sequel wasn't as well done as the original Code Geass, I still liked it just not as much. It has more than a few flaws but it was still satisfying enough that I don't feel like sunrise screwed me over. Still, I hope the OVA's are better than R2 was.

Eyeshield 21

Well this was kind of dissapointing. When I first started watching this anime I couldn't get enough of it and that's how it was up until the halfway point. But then this series started to get... stale. I guess this shouldn't be surprising, after all it isn't easy to make a series with a lot of episodes (145 in this case) fun the whole way through. Well this was my first sports anime (technically Akagi is a part of a different genre all together) and it was OK. I liked it enough that I'm not giving up on finding a really good sports anime. But next time I'll make sure it's shorter... Much shorter -_-

Sekirei

Finally! A good ecchi! Well it's not that good but it's still the best one I've seen in months. The characters are likable, the animation's decent and there's an actual plot outside of a bunch of girls throwing themselves at a wimpy guy... well it has that too but I'm okay with it :)

There are some other series worth mentioning but I don't see why I should go out of my way since only a few peole bother to read my end of year posts... Stahn was one of them...
