Some may argue that's Texan pride or whatever. I attribute it more to the fact that Texas doesn't get much in the way of foreigners. We're pretty much cross-culturally-stunted.)

Summer or around Christmas (Summer would be best). The two big breaks in the school year. I think the summer of 2013 would stand the best of chances for a person like me, way out in the states. I do have the advantage of never having been out of country, so if I begged, I might be able to get the trip as a sort of graduation vacation. Since no one would find you with that info, getting that little more specific about your location doesn't matter, don't worry :)

To me it greatly depends on the location and date. I know for a fact that for the next 3 months from now I won't have anything apart from entrance exams in may, but after that I can't be sure... But when I do get the letter that I'm waiting here, it's 3-5 months until I have to go to civillian service, meaning that I'm stuck doing that for the next 10-11 months. As much as I'd like to visit the USA, I kind of can't - plane tickets costing 1000€ for one thing...

Netherlands for me. And i am sure my gf would also like to come. Germany would also be possible. I will have my drivers license by that time. This summer or actually any other holiday which overlaps with other users. Christmas period is also okay with me.

One thing to consider (though maybe not at this stage of planning) is what to do if a Konavention is held. I'm not fond of the idea of driving cross the country or flying cross the world for an hour long chat at restaurant. An event would be nice, preferably lasting longer than a single day. Something anime related would be appropriate, but honestly, I'd be fine with anything affordable and universally fun. (for example: DisneyWorld. Is it a perfect example. No, but it's a thought.)
And I think two separate Konaventions would make it all that much more possible. I don't believe anyone's rolling in the dough here, so overseas travel can't be an easy task. The dates for the Konaventions could be separate, of course, giving whoever truly wished and was able a chance to travel to both Konaventions. It's either that, or we could just average the distance between everybody, hold the Konavention at, say, the north pole.

Looks that mostly members are from US. Anyway I'm from Sweden. I can't say any specfic time but may be when there are long holidays such as summer or winter. As PAIIS said it would be more enjoyable if we can meet some kind of anime convention or similar and have a stay for about a week.

Duration and location are subject to discussion. I think only one day isn't worth it either. Though it's not like people can't come a day later or leave a day earlier.
We should just rent a large bungalow, or anything large enough for a group. And hold an anime marathon ;). Most places have a flatscreen these days on which you can hook up your laptop. And somebody can surely bring a xbox or ps3.
Really it would be an amazing idea, though it would also be hard to realize and plan. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

I completely agree with PAIIS, making it longer than a day would make it a lot more fun, we can all relax and properly get to enjoy each other's company. If there's a big group, we can't get to know each and everyone within the space of a day. (of course, this depends on how many are going, I know...)
Also, I said earlier, but Winter would be tough, if we wanna go and do something outside, it's difficult to fully enjoy because we'll all be shivering and conversations will surely die due to this. Either way, I don't mind, I'd still go if everyone else does. But I just wanna consider the most practical condition to meet. 2nd November I'm going to see Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy Philharmonic Orchestra play all the game music so as long as it's not this day, I don't mind. :)

I'm in Indiana but was born/raised in California and have family all over Southern Cali. I can meet anywhere/any country, and might be able to get some others on a free military flight if needed to go to Europe. I spent years traveling Europe and Asia and would be happy to go back for a visit

i'm interested in meeting up, but my current family circumstances prevent me from doing so in the foreseeable future. if i had to venture a guess, possibly summer of 2013...maybe...at any rate, i(like cuda) also suffer in the state of FL, which is being slowly converted into little cuba. (i'm not xenophobic, but if someone's gonna settle down somewhere they should atleast learn the official language)

Since the information would be too scattered in the friendly topic, I made a new topic for this.
The main purpose is currently to find out which users on konachan are even interested in meeting up. Please don't share any personal information like real names, emails or pictures in here. If things get serious, we will move this to a non-public space.
As for the rules:
- Only post if you are interested in joining the konachan meeting (even if it's possible you might not make it due to financial stuff/distance)
- Post your country (nothing more specific)
- Add your preferred date (in four months at the earliest to give people the chance to arrange stuff)
- Any posts related to the Konavention are allowed.
If enough people want to meet up, we can discuss the location of the meeting based on what's most convenient for everyone. If desired, bringing friends is fine, even if they are not konachan users.I'll leave this topic open for a month for now.
