As many of of us have now realized, Konachan now has an official mascot, and her name is Kona Shirakawa.
This forum's purpose is to provide a space where users can discuss, question, and comment on our new mascot freely and openly without causing clutter on our mascot's original pic.

I was sooo used to the other one, but an original made especially for Konachan seems to fit more. Times change, things change, what can you eh? I'll forgot what the old one looked like eventually.

I still preferred the previous one (from the angel beats), but it's true that a site must have their own mascot, just like danny cho's site. I just hope that there would be a revision of the current mascot so she would look better, since the current version still lacking the 'moe' factor. Maybe because she's kind of resembling yui from k-on!? Or maybe because her hair style kind of weird. It just my opinion tough.

She was originally a one-off character the artist made to practice facial expressions. The origina pixiv post isn't even up anymore (I luckily still have 2 of the 3 originals posts from there.) So yes, she is still technically a rough character design and we plan on expanding her design a bit with derivative works based on her.

i like her, but not the version of her that's our mascot now. i like some of the other versions better. rro's right when he(?) says it's not quite moe enough. but it is great to have an orignal just for konachan.

I'm personally happy with our mascot. She's cute, spunky, full of emotion, and personifies all of us with her many facial expressions. I loved the original pic so much that I actually took the liberty of naming her BEFORE she was the Konachan mascot.
(In hindsight calling her Key-chan was kind of lame) XP

I did like the old one better. She was made for the site, her color scheme, and over all design. This new one needs a heavy Konaification before I call her our mascot. Yes I know you can't please everyone, but I'd feel a lot better after some edit work is done.

It was otherwise. The site was made for her you could say. The logo was specially colored to fit the hair, the color scheme of her didn't match with anything we had. Also the image was flipped giving it an unnatural feeling.

About the name, Shirakawa Kona... Well i'm still kinda wondering where it came from. StahnAileron mentioned in the image comment that it is "a higurashi reference" and I figured out that Konachan's previous default avatar is a character from 'higurashi no naku koro ni' named Furude Rika. But unfortunately I know nothing about Higurashi.. So I'm not sure where tthe name really relates. Is it the name of an artist? or a character? or is there something else i'm missing?

What i don't like the most of this current version of kona shirakawa is her hair style. The way she keep her ponytail, it just doesn't seems right for me. Maybe if you gave her a better hair style, she would be more captivating. Also, how about giving her 2 version of hair, the sort one and the long one? Just like mikazuki yozora from boku wa tomodachi ga sukunai? People have different taste after all, so maybe by making 2 version of it, you could satisfied both parties.

I personally prefer that her hair colour isn't brown. For some reason, I prefer the light blue / purple haired chicks after all, the one like mine, otaku-emmy, and shuugo's avatar. But since it was created that way to match the forum, then nothing can be done.

It is a bit pointless to argue on character style such as haircut or hair color. After all, you probably cannot reach a consensus for such choices.

If I were to change anything about the site's avatar is probably the quality of the picture used. It looks rather simple for a website that's supposed to be about quality wallpapers. Perhaps somebody could offer some artistic talent to improve the banner image? (or is that not even desirable?)

I think, we should make a pool with all the Kona- Mascots. If they all exist here as a post.
