For me it's Lelouch Vi Brittania, he was an excellent antagonist, a brilliant mastermind, I'll never forget him...
And Busujima Saeko, I'll never forget her because she is so, so, perfect, a beautiful woman with capable surviving skills and combat experience...
And of course Goku ;)

I've been thinking about this for a while. And I realize... as corny as it might sound, that'd be Usagi Tsukino, Sailor Moon.
Why? Because it was so endearing to see such a crybaby being forced into a role of responsibility and seeing how she comes to terms with her duty throughout the series. You could say that seeing her mature was what drives the story forward (even though for every two steps forward she'd take a jump back to her childish self x_x).
Even though she wasn't my favorite sailor scout, that would have been Ami. She's just the ideal type of girl for introverted and shy guys xD

Yeah, same as Yakkety, I will never forget Lelouch/Zero, though for different reasons....

I'd say Sue from Clover. That was a really sad manga. I will always love and care deeply for Ai Enma too. She's one of the few characters I've grown attached to. I love Motoko Kusanagi as well, because she's so awesome.
I knew it! You really love cyborgs don't you emmy-chan :3otaku_emmy said:

I do. Especially when there is an aspect of humanity to them. Like the Major: she's completely cyberized, but she has a human mind. I don't like the idea of robots being utterly indistinguishable from a human being though.
@emmy
have you watched KoiKoi7 yet?
It's a bit.... different... but it's about cyborgs.
At least the manga is....

I'm gonna stop you guys right there. It's just that we're getting a bit off-topic. Go to the anime thread to talk about an actual series kay?
Or PM each other. Btw good intervention ecchifan. You all should know to keep stuff on topic.
Well in my case, an year-two years ago I was thinking about Reiuji Utsuho every time I was coming home from school. I had that deep wish and urge to have her powers and kept imagining how it would be for a nuclear bomb to be planted in this city in front of everyone and programed to blow up in five minutes. Or just a sudden land throw of a nuclear bomb. God I love her powers. Pity she doesn't have a genius brain to use her powers properly.
Another character is Xellos from Slayers. He pops up in my head sometimes for I don't know why.
And now, I see Oshino Shinobu every day.
Well those are the ones that appeared in my head the most.
There are others of course. For example there is Edgar and Lydia from Hakushaku to Yousei.

Chizuru and Saori of Hourou Musuko
Just because those two characters are great.

Thank you Tensa! ^_^
Okay, so far we've only talked about characters that we remember fondly but what about characters that you only wish you could forget? For example, i'll never forget Shinji Ikari for being one of the most irritating characters i've ever seen in an anime.

Mami Puella Magi spoilers
There are no chars I wish to forget (At least none I remember, and if there were some, I guess I did a pretty good job ^^), the memories of chars we liked and the ones of chars we hated have the same significance to me, they just give rise to other emotions.
As for chars I will certainly never forget, it would be Kamina from TTGR. Most chars follow paths laid out for them, destinies that came from their births, powers, etc. But he made his own path and made it possible for whole generations of humans to follow their own. He was also pretty funny with his machotalk...

Hate? Forget? .... let me see... how should I say this... I always hated those chars yes... you know that one char that is a fly and wants soup too so it gets in between the man and his soup by eating from his soup. And I don't have an appetite for anything once a bug touched it.
Understand me? I dislike the characters that interfere in an obvious love relationship. Obvious to us, the viewers.

@Tensa I'm happy to see another response to the thread but we're discussing characters we won't soon forget. Right now you're talking about a type of character commonly seen in anime and manga rather than a specific character. Can you at least name one of these "flies"?
There are "flies" in all harem anime. Let's see. I can't seem to recall but only one. Seems I forgot about the rest. That certain one is Hinata from Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!. He really annoyed me for being a bug between Misako and Takumi. I know it's part of story and makes the story more bla bla bla. I just love straight love in anime. No interference.
So yeah I won't soon forget. The one example I gave is the only one I can remember. (unless Kimi ga Nozomu Eien counts. Though she kind of saved him from madness). So if it's the only one I can remember, then I forgot about the rest. Understand me? I succeeded in forgetting the ones I dislike.

If only we could all be that lucky -3- actually there aren't that many characters that i wish i could forget (the list keeps growing). One that really stands out is the perverted teacher from DearS, she makes my skin crawl...Tensa said:

Ah, I wish I could forget the entire higurashi cast and watch the show again, unspoiled.
It was one of the best anime experiences I've ever had.

I'll never forget Canaan or anything to do with Spirited Away. Oh, and Kanna from Sakura Wars too. I am so attracted to her.
I will never forget Light Yagami. He was a heartless bastard with no regard for human life. BUT! He has also become one of my favorite villians. You can say I hate him as a human being but I recognize a good baddie when I see one. He was equally evil and brilliant and he strongly believed that what he was doing was right. That is what made him so dangerous.
I also won't soon forget Yoichi Hiruma from Eyeshield 21 but for more positive reasons. He's a great leader and tactician and I love his wicked sense of humor XD

Furukawa Nagisa and Okazaki Ushio from Clannad. Another one is Lelouch. There are other ones in my list but I don't remember them atm.
One character from anime I can really respect and remember is Asemu Asuno from Gundam Age. While not an amazing series, I like this character because even though he didn't have the super-piloting powers (X-Rounder) that others had, he still became an ace pilot through hard work and training. I just really like any character that doesn't rely on a special power to become good.
I will also always remember Fate Testarossa Harlaown and Nanoha Takamachi because they are sexy.

Ash Ketchum, i can never forget this character. ever. Only because he was part of that which made up my childhood.
as for actual memorable characters. The entire main cast of Gunslinger Girl, especially Claes. Henriette's back story is just as if not more tragic however the show just kinda glides over it quickly in the first episode and is never really mentioned again.
the Vampire twins of Black Lagoon and ms Balalaika. Two orphans of a tragic past whim have become quite literally monsters, and the ex soviet captain who, after being betrayed by the flag she once fought under and losing that nation she swore her loyalty to, only wishes to return to a true battlefield.
Batou from Ghost in the Shell, worst friend zone situation ever. and of course the Tachikomas, they are all so damn adorable.
Samejima Mamimi and Naota from FLCL. It certainly isn't a good thing if you are, but you have to be a certain kind of person to understand that show and relate to it's characters.
Sato Tatsuhiro from Welcome to the NHK as well as Nakahara Misaki.
And most certainly Takasu Ryuji, Aisaka Taiga and Kushieda Minori from Toradora.

But yes, I agree.
I suddenly feel an urge to watch Clannad again. I've never actually rewatched it, though I've rewatched Kanon 2 times. If I relate to how many times I've rewatched something, Haruhi is certainly something I will never forget. I've just finished rewatching it for the 4th time. But there are so many characters I will never forget. Sigh.. School days..

If there are any characters that i will never forget, it's the Straw Hat Pirates. Of all of the anime characters that i've seen they are the ones that i cherish the most. They've taught me a lot and have given me many happy memories.
