As for fictional animals, I'd like to be a dragon more than anything else. An eastern dragon to be precise, much like Haku in spirited away :3 I wouldn't breath fire or anything, just soar through the vast sky with my silver scales glittering in the moonlight...

He (Haku) was a river too. If we're talking mythical, I'd definitely go phoenix.
There are surprisingly few deadly animals being chosen. If I were a snake, I'd go around biting people. I'd wait in trees and then fall on people, then slither away like I was never there.

Inanimate objects? ... hmmm.... panties for girls? Hahahahaha..... ummm.... a high carbon, triple made katana. No reason. I just had to mention what inanimate object I want to be. I mention something if inevitable. In other words, I don't want to be an inanimate object.
High-carbon steel will make you harder, but also more brittle. Enough force will just shatter you.

I would be domestic cat most definitively. It would be so nice to sleep 14-16 hours starting in the middle of the day and not have to worry everyday.
I thought of another one I'd like to be: one of those huge crows/ravens that mostly walk around in fields or harrass other birds all day. I could get really high in the sky and then circle over dead stuff...and eat it. I could soar on wind-streams and stuff. Plus, I'd be very black and shiny.
Ohhhhh, and I could swoop down on people and scream "KAAWWW!!!" and scare the shit out of them when they're leaving buildings. It'd probably be kinda funny to poop on cars and statues too.
