Haruhi's the only series I know of that aired in one order, yet the DVD are released in another order. A similar series would be Hidamari Sketch, but it's airing and DVD ep order is the same. Leave it to the publisher of Haruhi to be one hell of a troll...
Anyway, I saw and prefer the Airing order (i.e. Kyon Order.)
I think how the series ended in that order had a much better impact. (The ending ep for the airing order is smack in the middle of the Chrono order.)
Also, I think it build up the suspense better, since when they refer to events in the series that happen "earlier" (chronologically) in the series, but haven't seen it yet (due to the airing order).
The events of the Airing order's ending ep is hinted at in other eps. (The Baseball ep having a hint to a major scene.)
Airing order makes you think a bit harder and appreciate the production value more. Chrono order is if you just want to get through and done with it without having to overly think about it, IMHO.

The re-run was shown in chronological order though.
I forget which order I used first time since it was some time ago.

Hmm I see. Thanks for your input Stahn and Sci.
Let me get this straight though...so the 2009 re-run included all the 14 episodes from 2006 as well as 14 new episodes mixed in?
Would this mean I should just dl all the episodes aired in 2009?
EDIT: Also, I'm not sure if this is allowed on the forum, please delete this comment if it's not...but could anyone direct me to some quality DDL's/torrents for the 2009 re-airing? I'd be in your debt forever. :)

I first watched it in airing order.
I remember watching it in the Haruhi order first.
Didn't know it had such a strange order at that time, and I went WTF more than one time.
Though I actually enjoyed it that way, they made you stitch the story together, you actually had to think while watching an anime.
On the topic of Haruhi.
Shouldn't the movie/disappearance of haruhi suzumiya get a proper release any time soon? I've been waiting and wanting it for ages now...

Oh yea I forgot about that. Haven't watched it, even though I have it, keep forgetting about it. The person I got it from said it was good though.
Apparently It's due to be released in the spring of 2011.Artwork said:

@SciFi thank you for the links. ^^
Also, FAQ: Links.
Haruhi Movie is due out in Dec.
Yes, the 2009 "S2" was an S1 re-run with the new contents mixed in...In Chrono order. The Endless Eight arc pissed off A LOT of people...Me included. It turned me off to the Haruhi series. (Movie supposedly made up for it, which I can believe.)
I personally think you should watch original S1 in Airing order, THEN watch the new S2 eps on their own (some groups released batches containing ONLY the new eps.) With the E8 arc, you can watch the first and last ep (out of 8) and get the point if you wanna save time. 2-7 are pretty pointless. I saved my friend about 2 hours of his life that way when he watched S2 and asked me about it. You can always go back later and watch it if you REALLY want.

That second season thing with the 7 episodes that are close to identical, is so stupid, but it was a smart thing to do, considering their reasons.
Oh cool, many thanks for the links + clarification.StahnAileron said:

Seriously, BakaBT just saved me HEAPS of time. I found the exact same torrent (14 episodes Season 2) I was downloading from nyaatorrents that had 11 seeds and I was getting 50kb/s (EST 12 Hours), now I have 79 seeds at 450kb/s (EST 40 Mins). Lmao, FTW! :P

Lol I just read up on the E8, apparently It's just full of looped scenes or something? Anyways, I'm willing to watch them... TBH I've got quite a bit of time on my hands at the moment.StahnAileron said:With the E8 arc, you can watch the first and last ep (out of 8) and get the point if you wanna save time. 2-7 are pretty pointless. Yea its 7, I think, episodes that are identical in terms of what happens. Every episode the same thing happens, it basically is a 7 episode long loop.
Endless eight, I watched the first episode fully, the next ones seeked through the different parts, basically when Nagato explains the situation and the end of the episode at the cafeteria, and then the last episode full too.
E8 takes up 8 eps...The production crew did it literally. It's a giant time loop with each ep being a particular loop (Nagato numbers them for you if you care.) Shuugo's method is the best compromise between wasting time and getting the full content.
And BakaBT is the best place to look for old torrents. They expect users there to keep a decent upload ratio. They just recompile the torrents to use their tracker.

Is this enforced in someway? Or?StahnAileron said:

Not really, I think...but I do believe users with accounts with high ratios get priority on new downloads. (Since they're more likely to help seed the swarm afterwards.)
But technically, that's how BitTorrent is supposed to work anyway. (They just make sure from the tracker-side, since client-side can lie all they want if that's how the software/app was written.)
You can still use them as a leecher (even without an account: you just can't use the search function much without an account, if at all). Just don't expect superfast service, I guess. (They're still better than most other trackers though.)

Oh right, I see what you mean. I thought it would be something a bit more extreme like a few others sites I know of. I suppose it'll have to do. ^^

I'm just curious as to what order did you watch this anime? What order would you prefer?
Btw, I've never posted a topic on this forum....so if it gets deleted I'm okay with it, not really familiar with the forum post rules. I hope it's okay though?
