This is REALLY nice and I don't want to knock it...But I can see the lack of polish in the edgework (no anti-aliasing.) It almost seems like composited extractions combined with a bit of rough re-coloring/touch-up. Saten especially has this cardboard cut-out feeling to her...

I gave it a try and tossed this image into GIMP, resizing it to 1600x1200 using Lanczos3 algorithm. It got a bit better, but the cardboard cut-out feeling you mentioned around Ruiko remains slightly noticable. I uploaded the result for comparsional purposes, see child post.

sorry for a noob question....but why are people so concerned with sizing this large? the most I can think of is a screen wallpaper or perhaps taking it to be printed...

It's not a noob question, honestly even I wonder about that, and I've been a member of this site for over 2 years.

The larger the original image, the more useful it is when you edit it to fit your needs, like cropping it to fit on a dual screen setup or the likes. Especially with continuously growing desktop resolutions or setups with more then two screens.
