I loved the image post #88562 but it had a lot of banding artifacts, mostly in the sky gradients, and it wasn't very high res either. So I found the higher res image (source) and spent an hour photoshoping it to just remove the banding without damaging the original work in any way. It proved to be tricky but in the end I'm satisfied with how it came out and I think it's definitely an improvement, so I figured I'll share it with everyone :) enjoy!
I will need a CRT monitor if I wanna found these artifacts in the other image, but nice work you did here.
You don't really need a CRT in order to see it. I'm using an LCD myself. It should be easily visible in the sky above the sun in the original image, especially if you try playing around with colors or contrast, something I often do before setting images as a wallpaper. Check out wiki for a better understanding of what banding is so you'll know what to look for in the original image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_banding
Experienced graphic design guy like me can't help but being hugely bothered by such thing, so when I see it in such a pretty image, I feel an uncontrollable need to fix it :)

I still can't see it and I guess I should blame my monitor because of it, probably because it shows only 6 bits per channel instead of 8
6-bit per channel would provide more banding than an 8-bit/ch monitor.
Also, take it to the forums if you want to talk about technical stuff not directly relating to the image. We're starting to veer off-topic.
