I love when the artist tags we use don't match what the artist actually goes by.
Well, he had been using Jewriel as his signature in his images as far back as 2015/10 until just recently. He changed it to goyain between 1/14 and 1/17 this year (4.5 months ago). Though he is posting far more frequently now that he's changed it.

If he sticks with this one, you can expect the tag to change eventually. However, if he continues to change it regularly, we will wait until he finally settles on something before changing the tag.
I wonder why artists do that.

Why do you keep changing your avatar?

The artist's name is their online identity, they may change it because they are changing their style/content or to refresh their identity, avoid being too similar to some other name or item......or just because.
Avatars are different than names. If you change your name, it can become more difficult for fans of your work to keep tabs on you.

And, this is very secondary, but it makes tagging on image boards harder. I've added the "wrong" artist name before because their Pixiv profile will say something different than the booru tags we try to stay consistent with.

You don't see people like Ilya Kuvshinov or Tony Taka changing their names, do ya? :p

I wrote a reply to this yesterday, but I deleted it almost immediately because I felt it wasn't important enough to continue this off-topic conversation...

I mean, I wasn't super upset about it or anything. It was a general musing.

You both have interesting and valid points though.
