You weren't the only one. I saw images of it all over JPN. All looked nice and pretty (like this post)...And one night I saw it on JPN TV...Yeah, talk about misleading promo art ^_^;I bought the series later on when it was released in the US, but I never got around to watching it. (And now I'm back in the US and my copies are in JPN.)
Higurashi is pretty fun anime and full of creazyness.

Despite being fooled by moe promo art and as a result getting mentally scarred for life by all the psychotic killing over and over again, Higurashi is still one of my favorite series.
