The last ep (9) shows them listening to music via standard earbuds. It was a fairly odd ep too. It felt almost ARIA-like in mood.
But yeah, most artists usually skirt around the human vs cat ear problem in char designs by having the char's hair cover up the human ears.

But i think you mentioned that they avoid the human ears with hair covering some time ago.
