I used to use WD about 20 years ago, before switching to Seagate.
Seagate drives proved to be good reliable drives for the 15 or so years I used them. They had free 5 year warranties on all their drives and they very rarely failed within that 5 year period. But then after suddenly having a number of 3TB drives die early (at which time I also found that they no longer had 5 year warranties) I stopped buying them... Though the 4TB Seagate drives I've had for 5 years now are still doing fine.
Anyway, I've switched to the Hitachi HGST line now.
