OK let's take it simply. Reimu is a shrine maiden that uses the power of the Gods to purify demons. You can find her at the typical place called "Hakurei Shrine". Yukari is a gap demon that has the power of opening and closing gaps, manipulating the borders of all kind of existing notions (such as death). She's living in a house that is located beyond the realm of the dead. Pass through it to reach her. But even if you reach her, can you possibly make her appear before you after disappearing from your sight by using a gap? Thus you won't be able to hurt her whatsoever, while she continuously pwns you hardcore.
