No Ventilator over the cook top? No Oven? Not a really good work triangle layout either. The cook top is too far from the sink.

I've seen some layout like this where the stove is on an island without a ventilator - the good thing about it is it looks very spacious but the smell spreads all over the place in which the residents usually don't mind (ha...wait till when they burn their food).

Though you are right the sink should be positioned in front of the stove or almost right beside it for efficiency.
I don't see any issue with the sink. It's not like it's on the opposite side of the room.
The lack of an oven is an issue, but it may be that it's on the reverse of the island to keep it's controls separate.
They have setups like that on cooking shows, I've noticed. The whole island cook top with built in oven. Although, the oven is usually on the same side as the stove top controls.

Perhaps they had this custom made and the cabinet under the hob is actually an oven. It seems to open from the top down.

If you are cooking up a storm for a big family or catering for a lot of guests believe me you need that sink very very close.
